Angola: U.S.$ 900 Million Invested in Soyo Combined Cycle Project

Luanda — The Angolan Government has invested about Usd 900 million in the Soyo Combined Cycle power project in northern Zaire province.
 
The information was released Tuesday by the minister of Energy and Water, João Baptista Borges, who said the project will be complete in 2017.
 
The project that involves several power substations and transportation lines will produce 750 MW, to meet a large part of the needs of the country, both for home and industrial use.
 
According to the minister who visited on Monday the high and very high tension substations of Nzeto (Zaire province), Kapari and Catete (Luanda), the substations will be ready by late this year.
 
João Baptista Borges said the Nzeto substation is the main one and will get power from the Soyo lines, being one with 400 MW for Luanda and another with 220 MW for the localities of Mbanza Congo, Nóqui, Tomboco and Cuimba (Zaire).
 

The Combined Cycle is the combination of more than one thermal cycles into one station, comprising one gas and another steam turbines.
